Introduction :

A GRE score is the marks that you acquire in the GRE or Graduate Record Examination. GRE is conducted by ETS or Educational Testing Service where verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning and analytical writing skills of the candidate are tested. The score which you receive is required for further. The GRE Test is developed and administered by a US-based ‘Educational Testing Service’ (ETS) under the direction of the Graduate Record Examination Board, a non-profit organization of graduate business schools worldwide. This test is conducted in two categories – General GRE test and Subject GRE test. out of which the general GRE test is conducted all year round and the subject exam is conducted only thrice a year.

Why GRE :

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a standardized test that measures the verbal, mathematical and analytical skills of a typical candidate. It also measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking and analytical writing skills, which are not particularly related to any specific field of study.

GRE Useful Information :

Unlike other exams, you can choose your own date and time for taking the GRE Test.This exam is conducted five days in a week (Monday to Friday), twice a day. September to December is the most popular season for aspiring candidates.So,in case you intend to take the test during this period then you need to register very early (say,2-3 months in advance)to get a date of your choice.

Anyone is eligible to appear in GRE General Test. There are no restrictions based on age or qualification.

The test scores are valid for five years i.e.,most universities accept scores that are achieved up to five years ago.

The GRE Subject test is meant to assess a candidate’s qualification in a specific field of study.It is required mainly for a doctoral study or admission to some universities for a Masters level program.

The subject test is a written test and not a computer generated like the General GRE test. It includes a syllabus which covers eight different subjects comprising of biochemistry,cell and molecular biology, biology, chemistry, computerscience, English grammar,mathematics, physics and psychology.
